Slowly our short video's on bird's habitat are getting ready for publishing. Students and staff have worked very hard until Easter to get everything ready. We learned a lot, not only about bird's habitat, but also about making short video's with Windows movie maker. We started out with an assignment to make a background which presents a common habitat for a special bird. Students worked in pairs, one younger kid with an older. This proved difficult because many teens stay only short with us. The younger kids ended up working with a teacher. Because creating video's is all new to us, we had to learn from trial and error. We discovered that starting with a background without a story is not very handy. A good script is essential and makes certain demands on the background, props and characters as well. We learned from our mistakes and wrote outlines so we could finish all necessary props and scenes. For some kids the work was too elaborate and it took a lot of encouragement to keep going. As staff we slowly get the hang of it to work with Windows Movie Maker. We discovered that it is best to make first all images, timing and text, before adding narration and music or sound. Again we learned from our mistakes, We were inspired to practice all Shaun and Fred taught us in their visit. I guess we did ok for a first try-out.

I'll publish here the video of Lára age 12, who is reintegrating in her school at the moment. The other video's will be published by the students themselves under biodiversity.
