Because of the Easter Holidays and a staff only day, we had a short teaching week. 23rd of April is for many schools in Iceland Environmental Day. Probably because it is followed by the Icelandic national holiday First Day of Summer or connected to Earth Day. On Wednesday 23rd it was really good weather. To contribute to making our environment nice we picked up trash on and around the school grounds. We found many cigarette stubs, plastic, chewing gum, paper and cartons. After the winter it is good to clean up. Hopefully the snow is gone for good. One never knows on Iceland. To enjoy our environment we went playing outdoors in the neighboring skateboard area and greenery with grill. We grilled marshmallows and had a really good time. Unfortunately the battery in our camera went empty. The next day we all had a free day. On this First Day of Summer it is custom in all Icelandic towns, to follow the scouts and music bands in a parade and play afterwards on many sites in parks and towns squares.
