Brúarskóli við Dalbraut

January 2015 - Timeline biodiversity

Just for the chronological record. In January we have worked hard on our timeline game of biodiversity. Þorsteinn has explained how it works under the game blog. Starting the new year with the concept of Time line fitted well. Some of our younger students learned about high numbers and how years, are counted. Introducing the game with a simple version about the year all students and staff were born, worked well. Until now we have some 20 playing cards, which we are still converting into a digital format with publisher. We hope to get funds for a real print run. We'll see what comes our way. We hope to get more drawings, working together with other departments of Brúarskóli. How about our partners, would any of you see time and space to join us? If so we have plenty of ideas for more playing cards. Please tell us if we can send some samples to you? A drawing on A5 suffices. The drawing does not need to be perfect, but still should be well worked out with a background in colour as well.

Besides working on the game we watched a documentary broadcasted by RUV the national television about a woman form Thailand Lek who built a sanctuary for Asian elephants. It is good to know she already saved 200 elephants. They are critically endangered because of deforestation and a growing population.

And last but not least We applied for the green flag of FEE. Someone from the national agency Landvernd will come to check out if we deserve our Green Flag and we hope to receive it in May at the final conference.
