Our Comenius trip to London was a very interesting and unforgettable experience . We
visited Chelsea Community Hospital School which is the only hospital school in London that
works across four London hospitals . Due to time constrains we visited only two sites :
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Collingham Child and Family Centre where we
received a warm welcome from the Staff. We had an opportunity to tour the unit and meet
children and teachers .
We took part in Horse Riding session ( Equine therapy )
and Art
classes with younger students .We spent afternoon doing eco-animation with students using
recycled material .
We also made a presentation for all Staff about our school and the work we have been doing
towards Comenius .
We were happy to go for The Queen’s walk which took us over Westminster Bridge . along
the South Bank of the River Thames towards Tate Modern then back over the river on the
Millenium footbridge to St.Paul’s Cathedral . We had a chance to enjoy some of London’s
most popular tourist attractions .
On the second day we met with older students to observe a lesson and give a presentation
about our city and country . After that we organised a short quiz with prizes .
At Chelsea and Westminster Hospital we had a chance to tour the hospital and made a
Christmas gingerbread cookies workshop with younger students .
We had an opportunity to
attend a training course led by Luke Abott entitled “ Mantle of the Expert “ .
We went for an amazing day trip to Surrey Wildlife Trust for a workshop on interdependence
with students and teachers from Collingham Child and Family Centre .
Our closing session with all the Staff was an opportunity to share work and discuss next steps
in our cooperation .
We are grateful for the warm welcome and we hope to meet our Comenius Partners again !
